Father's Day

Father's Day

For Mother’s Day, my wife determined it would be a good time to set goals. These goals would be focused on points that she would like to see improvement in her life similar to New Year’s Resolutions, but starting on Mother’s Day instead of the beginning of the year. To follow in her example, I have decided to start a few goals on Father’s Day.

Goal 1: Improve Scripture Study

For this goal, I decided to improve my scripture study by expanding from reading scriptures to writing a talk or preparing a lesson once a month. I do not intend to ever give these talks or lessons, but in preparing to teach on a subject it will hopefully push me to dig deeper into scriptures on the subject. This will not be limited to scriptures, but will include other sources on the subject such as my life experiences or other uplifting sources. This will help me dive deeper into specific topics and better tie scriptural topics to my life.

Goal 2: Monthly Blog

It has been a long time since my last post because my blog hasn’t been a priority with all the other things going on. To help get back into blogging, I chose once a month because it is more realistic for me to set aside time once a month rather than daily or weekly. Some of those blog posts may involve playing catch up.

Goal 3: Education

As a way to improve my abilities, I have started an online course in Android programming. It is one that is offered free if you do not care to have any kind of certificate that verifies you have completed the course work. I have not been making as much progress in the course as I would like to see, so my third goal is to set time aside every week to progress in the course. The course is broken into many mini lessons so even having 30 minutes set aside at a time to work on the course will allow to continue to progress. It is also important to get into the course regularly to prevent me from forgetting what I have already covered.
